We are living in days where so much of the church has compromised on biblical truth. The Bible warns us to be careful not to have itching ears that seeks to hear that which affirms us in our sin rather than a saving grace that purifies itching ears.
In this sermon originally given on 27th March 2022, I said the times we are living in requires us to take whole gospel much more seriously than we have been. That God desires us to be pure and holy, to be set apart from the things of the world.
How do we do this? Because much of society has rejected God, we should expect to be going against the flow of society.
We need to avoid puffed up attributes that lead to an itching ear syndrome. We must ready ourselves, which starts with submitting fully to God. We cannot be lukewarm. We cannot conform to the world’s standards.
If we stand for truth, whatever the cost then there is a prize for endurance, the prize of eternal life.
This was the first sermon I was invited to give at my new church since moving to Scotland, hence the preamble of how I came to be living in Scotland and part of East Gate Church, Elderslie.
